Lesson: EYFS

Class: Reception Year: 2020 - 2021

We have had a very busy week!!

We began the week by wearing our odd socks to acknowledge anti-bullying week. The children decorated their own sicks for our display and we worked together to create a kindness heart. We enjoyed discussing the different ways that we can be kind to others.

We then had our first finger gym afternoon. Finger gym encourages the development of fine motor and language skills that are essential for hand writing. The children enjoyed a carousel of different fine motor activities.

We then read the story ‘Smartie the penguin’ – which you can find here https://www.childnet.com/resources/smartie-the-penguin. This enabled us to discuss how to stay safe on a tablet. The children then used the interactive whiteboard to colour in Smartie the Penguin.

We finished the week with a visit from Jerry the Giant African snail. We went on a snail hunt in our outside area for ‘snails’, the children then drew maps of the outside area to identify where the snails were hiding. The children enjoyed holding Jerry or touching his shell! We then read The Snail and the Whale and worked together to create the beginning, middle and end scenes.
