School Values

The following values will be celebrated in our school worship this academic year:

Friendship

Our friendships have the power to guide and shape our choices; furthermore friendships can reflect our character. Below are some passages which reveal the importance of demonstrating friendship.

Proverbs 27:9 Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Luke 6:31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

Romans 1:12 That is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.

John 15:12-14 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.

Proverbs 22:11 He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend.

Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour.

Koinonia

Koinonia encourages us to participate in acts of fellowship, coming together to celebrate the word of Christ. Koinonia means to serve not only those within the Christian Community but any who are in need.

1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?

Acts 2:42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 11:25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

Mathew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Perseverance

The act of perseverance is to continue even when times are difficult. Please read the scriptures below to find strength to continue when the path may not be so clear.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Romans 5:3-5 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!

Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Romans 5:4 And endurance produces character, and character produces hope.

Compassion

We cannot be void of compassion and still call ourselves Christians. Compassion is of paramount importance in revealing the genuineness of our faith in Christ.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Mark 6:34 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.

Colossians 3:12-13 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Colossians 3:12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Mathew 7:1-2 Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

Respect

The word respect is a translation of the Greek word timÄ“sate, meaning “honour or value.” It literally means “to place a great value or high price on something.” To respect everyone, believers must be conscious that God has created all people in His image, regardless of whether they believe in Christ.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 2:17 Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honour;

Ephesians 6:1-2 Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right, “Honour your father and mother.”

Romans 12:9-10 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection. And take delight in honouring each other.

Truthfulness

As Christians, we believe that truth is revealed in the Bible and supremely in the person and life of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ teaching we are given an insight into the nature of God and the way in which He means us to live.

John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the light. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

1 John 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

Psalm 25:5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

Ephesians 5:9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),

Psalm 145: 18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
